A lack of sleep is common for many women going through peri menopause & menopause. Our hormones aren't functioning the way that they should be. Poor diet, toxic overload a lack of exercise and poor mindset, are all contributing factors.

In order for your hormones to balance properly, we must get enough sleep. We run the risk of insulin resistance, sugar cravings, anxiety and type 2 diabetes.

When we aren't eating the proper foods and supplying our bodies with the nutrients that are right for us, we run the risk of not being able to fall asleep and stay asleep. There are so many things that can wake us up at night. If you are having a hard time getting to sleep and staying asleep then I have some tips for you to follow that have helped me and my clients tremendously.
  • Follow a bedtime routine: Keeping the same bedtime and wake time will help for you to establish a time that your body can get used to. This will help signal to your body when the time arrives to switch off the lights and put the phone down.
  • Leave your phone and any technology with blue light away from you 2 hours before bed. The blue light stimulates our brain into thinking it's day time and lessens the amount of meletonin in our brains, making it more difficult to fall asleep.
  • Self care: It's a step we can often miss when we are busy. But we need to ensure that we are taking care of ourselves, especially in this season of change or else your hormones will complain. Take an Epsom salt bath before bed. This will help boost your magnesium levels, which can help relax your body and mind. I love tea! Tea is such a inexpensive way to get some high quality nutrients into our bodies. Some of my fav's for relaxing before bed. Camomile tea, lemon balm is amazing also. I also add in my favorite matcha latte's everyday. Matcha is not only an amazing antioxidant, anti inflammatory, but it as the amino acid called L-Theanine. This amino acid has a calming affect on the brain and body and can help relax you! Just be careful of the type of Matcha you drink. Match from India or china can have toxins and molds that can harm our health. Here is my favorite clean and safe Matcha
